“I was introduced to John just before the 2011 NYC Marathon hoping to finally overcome the hurdle of breaking the 3 hour barrier.  He immediately identified deficiencies in my training which when corrected provided the surge I needed to come in at 2:59:19.  Since then I have continued to train with John and in May completed the GoodLife Toronto Marathon in 2:49:45.  John has had me run more miles, faster and without serious injury than I thought possible.  Much thanks to you John for your masterful guidance.”

I started training with John just before my 40th birthday with the goal of breaking 90 minutes for the half marathon and setting a pr for that distance.  Not only did I accomplish that goal within two months of signing on with John, but I went on to further lower my pr in the half (1:24:56), improve my 10k pr by four minutes and break three hours for the marathon (besting my previous pr by 23 minutes.)

“I was referred to John in March 2010 by Dr. Peter Duggan.  At age 61, my goal was to run a half-marathon, but I had been struggling with minor injuries and was feeling very discouraged.  I began a comprehensive training program that included twice-weekly training sessions, a weekly running schedule, and a nutrition plan.  As a result of John’s coaching, along with his patience and steady encouragement, I successfully ran two half-marathons.  In September 2010, I ran the ING Philadelphia Half-Marathon in 1:52:22, an 8:32 pace, finishing third in my division.  Running strong and injury-free was the best feeling ever, and I will be forever grateful for the influence John and the Henwood Hounds have had on my life.”

I started working with John in July 2010. I had run two marathons previously, and felt I needed input from a coach who was successful at racing this challenging distance. John helped increase the intensity of my training and gave me the confidence to push myself harder. I ran competitively in high school and college, however, this is the first time I have experienced such a dramatic improvement in my running. I feel prepared for my races and am thrilled with the results. Thanks so much John!

Before I joined John’s group, I had a goal of breaking 3:30 and I knew I wouldn’t get there on my own. John’s program gave me the structure and customization I needed to reach my goal. I quickly started to see improvements and with John’s guidance, I was able to navigate through some minor injuries throughout my training.  Leading up to the marathon, I dropped nearly 3 minutes from my half marathon PR and crossed the line at the marathon in 3:12:51 – well ahead of my goal – and spot on John’s predicted finish time!
